Our Lighthouse Living Lab Valladolid held a highly compelling Open Innovation Day. The focus? Showcasing the progress and outcomes of URBANE!
On September 18, Cidaut and the Valladolid City Council hosted a stimulating open innovation event aimed at presenting the progress and outcomes of URBANE, which positions Valladolid as a Lighthouse Living Laboratory. The initiative was organised within the framework of European Mobility Week.
Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to experience and test innovative electric logistics vehicles powered in part by photovoltaic energy. The prototypes showcased – designed by IFEVS – were the same units deployed during the project, which demonstrated an enhanced driving range of up to 10 kilometers thanks to the integration of solar panels. These vehicles were exhibited at a dedicated stand located on a central street of the city, near a major green area and within the designated low-emission zone.
The event drew a wide-ranging audience, including political representatives, public transport operators, and citizens eager to explore the benefits of these sustainable mobility solutions for both professional and personal use.
As a result, the initiative strengthened positive public perception in Valladolid toward cargo bikes and solar energy as solution for electric vehicles. This growing interest is closely connected to the recent implementation of low-emission zones across all Spanish cities.
