On 28 May, Forum Virium Helsinki (FVH) organised an open day to launch their third piloting sprint they are undertaking as part of URBANE (they are a Lighthouse Living Lab) and in collaboration with EU-funded sister project DISCO.
They will be testing a microhub in the Ruoholahti shopping center in combination with last-mile B2C deliveries using autonomous delivery vehicles HeRo and NeRo, as well as cargo bikes, electric vans, micro mobility services like e-scooter charging, and DHL Express’ service point for residents to ship their parcels.
During the Open Day, FVH opened the doors of the micro-hub to the residents and other stakeholders in the city of Helsinki. As a neutral facilitator, FVH invited URBANE and DISCO partners – LMAD, DB Schenker and A2B – as well as external stakeholders involved in the project including DHL Express – to briefly present their upcoming operations for the summer pilot.
This multi-stakeholder collaboration will open up new opportunities for partners to demonstrate novel ways of sustainable deliveries, and in the best-case scenario increase the quality of their service.
